An independent record label based in the heart of Leeds, West Yorkshire

The band were formed in 2003 in Manchester, UK and were quickly signed by Island Records after just a handful of local shows and an almighty scramble amongst the music industry. The rest, as they say is history….

Since joining Hatch in 2013 Nine Black Alps have gone on to release two albums on the label with Candy for The Clowns (2014), closely followed by the band’s first ever live album Live From The Wishing Well (2015). 2015 was also the year where Nine Black Alps returned to Japan to play for the first time in a decade.

Originally starting life as a home studio project from front-man Jon-Lee Martin and after some encouragement from close friend Jorma Vik from The Bronx, a series of lo-fi recordings appeared online which, showed the bare bones of Then Thickens. Now years later and with a full band behind him, Then Thickens began to take things further with their full sound of lo-fi pop meets American rock.

Following support shows with Mariachi El Bronx and Biffy Clyro the band released their debut album ‘Death Cap at Anglezarke in 2014. Catching the attention of Ian McCulloch Then Thickens were invited to join Echo & The Bunnymen on a tour of the UK later that year before the band re-grouped to record their second album. The following year saw the release of the darker sounding Then Thickens; album ‘Colic’ with them rounding off 2015 with a tour supporting The Computers.

Combining chamber pop and 90s college rock pop, Deadwall are the first Leeds band to join the Hatch roster.

Self-releasing their debut album in 2014 they gained support from the NME and 6 Music’s Gideon Coe.

Their 2nd album recorded with MJ at Suburban Home Studio will be released in 2016.

Napoleon IIIrd is a composer, musician, producer and sound artist currently based in Holmfirth, spending his formative years in London, Leeds and Wakefield via a childhood shrouded within the Vale of Evesham. His music is a rich tangle of sounds and melodies made from antique organs and car-boot keyboards, strummed chords, driving rhythms and rich drones. Many of his songs are world-weary comments on modern life, set against an expansive musical backdrop. As a sound artist he has produced publicly funded installations for Union Chapel in London, Leeds Central Library and Leeds Light Night amongst others.

Five years in the making, Napoleon IIIrd’s third album is now complete and will be release later this year. The album, recorded by the same five-piece band with whom he now performs live, is a dramatic mix of majestic dream pop, drone rock and classical minimalism.

His second album, Christiania, was released on Nov 8th 2010 to a fanfare of critical acclaim in the mainstream music media.

Napoleon IIIrd’s discography includes two early EPs and a debut album, entitled “In Debt To:”. 2009 saw the release of his third EP, entitled Hideki Yukawa after the groundbreaking Japanese scientist.
